South East Water appoints new director

As an Australian and international utility leader, South East Water said Ms Olsen will be capable of leading the company’s next phase of evolution, which aims to blend customer experience with digital and technological expertise.

Prior to joining South East Water, Ms Olsen was Tesla Energy’s Global Head of Business Development and Industrial Product in the US after leading the same team for Tesla Australia.

Ms Olsen also cofounded Billcap in 2010, was Head of Strategy for Citipower and Powercore and the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA), as well as Project Leader for Boston Consulting Group.

South East Water Chair Lucia Cade said Ms Olsen has an impressive record as a strategic leader, creating environments for innovative teams and individuals to maximise their full potential.

“The board was particularly impressed with Lara’s strong focus on customers and her track record in developing and implementing strategy and initiating and launching new technologies and services which will position South East Water for success as we transform the way we operate to deal with climate change and population growth,” said Ms Olsen.

Minister for Water Lisa Neville also welcomed the news of Ms Olsen’s appointment and looks forward to working with her as an active representative in the wider water industry.

“We’ve had a real push to see more women in leadership positions in the water sector and it’s fantastic to have someone of Ms Olsen’s calibre appointed to guide the organisation into the future,” said Minister Neville.

Ms Olsen says she is excited to join the team and work with both the executive team and management board during the next phase of delivery and innovation.
