AMS completes innovative reline

Melbourne Water determined a section of the Pascoe Vale Sewer had a predicted nominal remaining asset life of 1-5 years, therefore requiring rehabilitation to extend its working life.

To combat the challenging project on behalf of the utility, AMS used the Quadex Lining System®, featuring GeoKrete® geopolymer, that bonds to the host structure, leaving no annular space.

The technology – a precision proprietary application system, built to a spec for high level performance – can be installed as a fully structural standalone liner to further extend the life and structural performance of the asset.

AMS said with access to the sewer manholes located at busy intersections in Strathmore, works needed to take place at night and were conducted in confined spaces.

The contractor completed jet washing the existing pipe, patch repair, treatment of corroded reinforcement and the sewer lining with the GeoKrete® geopolymer.
