The TBM completed its journey from the Domain precinct to breakthrough at the Metro Tunnel’s eastern entrance earlier this week.
The breakthrough comes just two weeks after another TBM completed its parallel 1.7 km journey from the new Anzac Station site.
Both TBMs will now be transported back to the Anzac Station site, where they will be relaunched to build the tunnels into Melbourne’s CBD.
Metro Tunnel says its two other TBMs also recently completed their journeys from North Melbourne to Parkville Station.
They will also be relaunched soon to build the tunnels to the new State Library Station.
