Tunnelling works continue at State Library

Current works at the northern end of Swanston Street include groundwater well decommissioning, tunnel boring machine (TBM) tunnelling works, construction of the underground station platform and shaft construction works at the La Trobe and Little La Trobe Street sites.

TBM Joan is expected to be relaunched towards the Town Hall Station site soon and will make the journey south underneath Swanston Street, while TBM Meg is scheduled to break into the State Library precinct shortly.

The project’s two other TBMs, Alice and Millie, are also digging twin tunnels towards Town Hall Station from the Anzac Station site in the west.

Works are scheduled to continue throughout February and March, with some sections requiring continuous 24 hours of works.
