Any such changes will be communicated and agreed with the contractor as soon as practicable.

As this is a three-year contract, Council has an option of extending the Contract if performance meets contract KPIs. The total programme of works for the first three years is expected to be valued in the region of $2.9 million; however the value of SP1 and SP2 is expected to be in the range $1 – $1.3 million.

Where possible, water pipes will be replaced by directional drilling. The selected contractor will also take responsibility for traffic management planning, some stakeholder liaison (particularly in residential areas) and management of health and safety, particularly for pedestrians and motorists.

Works will be located mainly in urban / residential areas where there is water reticulation. In some instances, it will be on state highways, and in one instance, it involves Kiwi Rail as one of the water mains will be installed under the Kinleith branch railway.
