HDD minimises disruption during installation

CD Drilling

CD drilling was contracted to complete horizontal directional drilling works to preserve the integrity of a culturally significant site.

CD Drilling recently assisted a client with the installation of a final piece of pipeline linking two trenched sections of steel gas main either side of a river.

The team installed a 340 m section of pipe via horizontal directional drilling (HDD) under a culturally significant area.

HDD allows for conduit placements underneath obstacles and provides maximum protection while  minimising maintenance and reinstatement costs.

Trenching was not an option on this project as it would have proven too disruptive to the culturally sensitive site.

“The boys worked tirelessly to get the job done,” a CD Drilling spokesperson said. “A successful bore means gas can be supplied where needed, whilst not disturbing the heritage site.”

CD Drilling thanked all involved, including the Valmec crew for their onsite assistance.

A new 60T rig is now inbound to the site to carry out further works on the gas link project.

CD Drilling has over 20 years’ experience in HDD services in the oil, utility and environmental remediation industries.
