Prime Horizontal completes underground installation with ParaTrack Gyro Guidance

Prime Horizontal has recently completed a small-rig project in Melbourne utilising ParaTrack Gyro Guidance for underground power installation.

Five bores were drilled in parallel under a highway at just 180 m in length and at a 20 mdepth using a 50 tonrig and a 4 ¾-inch OD assembly.

“To install five parallel highway crossings in Melbourne using GyroModule, we drilled parallel to a railway line with extremely high interference,” shared Gary Bowen from Prime Horizontal.

“ParaTrack Gyro Module was the preferred steering system as accurate depth requirements under the railway meant a combination of surface coil and Gyro Module enabled the bores to be drilled as per the drill profile from entry to exit accurately.”

Vector Magnetics marketing and operations manager Jed Sheckler applauded Prime Horizontal for choosing the ParaTrack Gyro for this project.

“The depth, lack of surface access, and interference levels made the ParaTrack Gyro an effective and highly accurate alternative to walkover horizontal directional drilling guidance,” shared Scheckler.
