Mullane Trenchless Pipeline Solutions utilised SAERTEX-LINER® MULTI for a stormwater pipe renewal project.
In July, Mullane Trenchless Pipeline Solutions successfully renewed a DN1200 stormwater pipe on Australia’s mid-coast, leveraging the benefits of trenchless technology to minimise impact, reduce traffic disruption, and swiftly restore the pipe to full operation.
Mullane Trenchless Pipeline Solutions secured the tender from a civil construction company, to reline 40m of a concrete stormwater pipe, a crucial infrastructure component carrying overflow water from a main road.
“The heavily deteriorated pipe was carrying a considerable volume of overflow water from the main road above,” Mullane Trenchless Pipeline Solutions Director Luke Woodward said.
“Despite its remote location, the road above was a key connection between towns in the area, making it essential to keep it operational.”
Mullane Trenchless Pipeline Solutions conducted thorough planning and together, with local distributor Pipe Core, they selected SAERTEX-LINER® MULTI, for its unique properties, including suitability for inline bends, severely deteriorated pipelines, and 100 year design life.
“We selected this liner for its unique properties and suitability for inline bends and heavily deteriorated pipelines, a crucial consideration for this project,” Woodward said.
“We are also very familiar with this product and are always impressed with its short inflation and cure time, which leads to efficient results.”
SAERTEX-PACKERS, from the manufacturer, SAERTEX multiCom® GmbH, were also deployed for the job.
“The installation-friendly design of these packers with quick-release fasteners, guaranteed a quick assembly and disassembly on the construction site,” Woodward said.
The team faced challenging access conditions, working down an embankment on either side of the main road, surrounded by rocks. Extensive pre-cleaning and careful preparation ensured the site was ready for a smooth installation.
Working closely with the civil construction company, Mullane Trenchless Pipeline Solutions’ crew prepared the area and excavated working platforms, avoiding the closure of traffic lanes. With assistance from Australian Pipeline Management, the experienced crew of six completed the reline in one day.
“The product selection was excellent, the job proceeded smoothly, and we delivered a brand-new pipeline that will remain operational for over 100 years,” Woodward said.
“Our thorough planning sessions with the civil construction company ensured we had all the gear ready to go, which was key to the seamless execution of the project.”
Mullane Trenchless Pipeline Solutions delivered an efficient and effective solution for the renewal of a critical stormwater pipeline, underscoring the importance of strategic planning and collaboration in achieving successful infrastructure rehabilitation.
