Help name a piece of trenchless history

The Ballarat Sewer Build’s latest piece of machinery needs a name, and Central Highlands Water is calling on the community to help decide.

Stage two of construction of the Ballarat Sewer Build continues in Humffray Street South, with the arrival of an amazing piece of machinery which will tunnel deep underneath the road.

The micro-tunnelling machine, or borer, will be used to install a 1200mm diameter pipe at depths of up to 10 metres beneath the road surface.

“The only missing piece of the puzzle is a name for this machine, and we’d love the community to help us choose one,” Central Highlands Water said in a statement on LinkedIn.

Simply email info@chw.net.au with your chosen name – your suggestion could become the name of the machine that will help build infrastructure that will support the community for the next 100 years.

The competition caters for everyone, with a micro-tunnelling machine activity sheet for the younger audience to colour in.
