NDD when and where it’s needed

Vacuum Truck Supplies’ DrainVac and DiggerVac are delivering reliable non-destructive digging and drain cleaning to projects across Australia.

An increasing demand for utilities across Australia means that the space below ground is quickly becoming a spider’s web of pipes and cables. Accessing these networks is a complicated task, with access points often confined, and the ever-present risk of damaging a cable both costly and dangerous.

That’s why contractors are turning to non-destructive digging (NDD), a safe means of excavation using high-pressure water and vacuum technology, usually delivered via a vacuum truck.

But not all vacuum trucks are created equal. With over 30 years of experience and over 1000 vacuum trucks built to date, Vacuum Truck Supplies (VTS) is backing the trenchless industry with high-quality, safe and compliant equipment.

The latest vacuum trucks to hit the company’s shop floor are the DiggerVac and DrainVac, with the latter boasting additional drain cleaning capabilities.

Both vehicles are available in a mobile 6×4 configuration, with larger 8×4 models bound for market in the coming weeks.

To deliver these powerful machines, VTS partnered with manufacturer Aryan Pumps and Enviro Solutions, which has been building NDD solutions for more than a decade and has delivered hundreds of trucks all over the world.

“With Aryan’s proven history of manufacturing highest quality, robust and tough trucks, and VTS’ design expertise based on our experience in Australia, we’re very confident in the reliability of the product,” VTS Managing Director Rod Glue told Trenchless Australasia.

“Just like all our trucks and trailers, they’ve been designed to withstand the harshest Australian conditions and are built be abused.”

Both the DrainVac and DiggerVac models have stainless steel waste and water tanks, tipping tanks, and full opening rear doors, and a non-computer control system.

This final feature is key, Glue said, and means the vehicles rely on mechanical and hydraulic engineering standards that have been proven for decades.

This translates to simplicity in diagnostics, repair and maintenance, all of which is of critical importance in every project. It also helps to lower the total cost of ownership throughout the asset’s life.

“Vacuum Truck Supplies has designed its own simple non-computer-controlled system which is fitted to all VTS models including these two new units,” Glue said. “The Australian NDD market has long had a plethora of European imported vacuum trucks which are hugely complex with computer and software issues dogging even the simplest of tasks.

“This often results in unnecessary lengthy and costly downtimes while they are fixed. Customers won’t have these issues with our trucks.”

Designed with the market expertise of VTS and delivered by the trained hand of Aryan, the DiggerVac and DrainVac are built on proven foundations.

Together, both companies are delivering mobile NDD and drain cleaning across Australia when it’s needed, where it’s needed.
