Driven by a strong local partnership and demand for long-lasting trenchless solutions, Pro Line’s UV-CIPP liner technology delivered over 5km of structural pipe rehabilitation.
Strengthening its presence across remote Australia, Pro Line partnered with leading trenchless contractor Northern Territory Pipe Relining to deliver the NT’s first ever ultraviolet cured-in-place pipe (UV-CIPP) installation.
The large-scale rehabilitation involved more than 5000m of sewer pipeline relining across several remote sites, a process that required a combination of precise planning, logistical coordination, and robust trenchless technology.
With limited access, harsh environmental conditions, and minimal allowable downtime, the project demanded a liner system and delivery team that could perform under pressure, a challenge well-matched by Northern Territory Pipe Relining.
As a full-service trenchless rehabilitation provider, the company offers a comprehensive suite of solutions – including CCTV inspection, and no-dig repair methods – positioning itself as a trusted partner for complex pipeline works across the region.
At the heart of the project was Pro Line’s innovative permanent inner foil liner, designed to remain inside the liner after curing. This eliminated the time-consuming process of removing inner foil post-installation, a change that proved especially valuable on a project of this scale; the innovation is estimated to have saved approximately three full working days across the works, streamlining delivery and reducing overall time on site.
The environmental benefits were also significant. By eliminating the need to remove and dispose of inner foil, Pro Line’s design reduced plastic waste generated during installation, a key improvement in the sustainability profile of UV-CIPP relining.
Pro Line is widely recognised as the pioneer of sustainability across the UV-CIPP industry, with demonstrated environmental performance embedded at every level of its operation. This position continues to drive innovation and raise the standard for greener, lower-impact trenchless solutions.
Pro Line Sales and Technical Director Kevin Woolf is excited to bring the innovations to the Australasian market.
“We developed the permanent inner foil system to solve exactly these kinds of challenges – remote access, tight timeframes, and the need for consistency,” he said. “It’s a major innovation that simplifies installation, reduces waste, and improves results.
“This project [in the NT] proved exactly why it’s the right solution for high-stakes work in tough conditions. And it’s why we’re seeing such strong uptake and positive feedback from contractors and asset owners across the market.”
Pro Line has conducted independent testing which found it’s UV-cured glass-reinforced plastic (GRP) liner offers long-term structural rehabilitation with a 100-year service life. The use of the trenchless product eliminates the need for excavation and dramatically reduces future maintenance. It also cures rapidly under UV light, minimising time in the ground and reducing disruption to surrounding infrastructure.
Northern Territory Pipe Relining owner Jay Stuart said the company had to pick a supplier he could really trust.
“Pro Line’s demonstrated experience on complex relining projects showed from the start,” he said. “Their support was hands-on and the liner quality was outstanding.
“The new permanent inner foil saved time on site, and with a 100-year service life we know we’re delivering a long-term solution for our clients.”
This landmark project marks a significant step forward for trenchless technology in the NT, opening the door to faster and more sustainable pipeline rehabilitation.
With further regional projects already in planning, Pro Line’s commitment to innovation and strong delivery partnerships continues to drive outcomes across Australia’s most challenging environments.
