Trenchless Australasia sat down with Vac Truck Industries to hear how the company is creating trust, safety, and a community of innovators.
In an industry often dominated by competition and complexity, Vac Truck Industries (VTI) has carved out a different kind of legacy; one grounded in purpose, people, and practicality. Founded not to outshine the rest, but to meet real needs with integrity and innovation, VTI has grown into one of Australia’s most trusted original equipment manufacturers of vacuum excavation and liquid waste equipment.
“We never set out to beat everyone else. That was never the goal,” VTI Managing Director Ned Popovic said.
“We built this company on friendship, on a shared desire to improve safety in the industry, and most of all, on a commitment to help people.”
With head office based on the Gold Coast, VTI designs and manufactures Australian-made, high-quality equipment for the civil construction, electrical, infrastructure, mining, drilling, oil, and gas sectors across Australia and New Zealand. In just a few years, the company has rapidly scaled its operations, becoming a key equipment supplier not only across Australia but throughout the broader Asia-Pacific region.
Every VTI unit is designed, engineered, and built right here in Australia.
This means equipment is engineered to suit challenging Australian conditions – with fast, local support, ready access to spare parts, and a clear understanding of what operators need on the job.
From hydro excavation vacuum systems (vac trucks), to high-pressure drain cleaning jetters and liquid waste collection trucks (sucker trucks, suction trucks, vacuum suction trucks), VTI delivers purpose-built vehicles across a broad range of volume sizes and power capacities.
“We run a wide range of VTI units, from compact models to larger builds,” one customer said. “No matter what kind of job we’re facing, there’s always a VTI truck that fits the task. That kind of flexibility is a real asset in today’s fast-paced market.”
VTI equipment is known for being simple and practical, with no-fuss controls and solid, reliable performance. Whether you’re a small contractor or managing a large-scale fleet, VTI works closely with each client to customise builds that meet specific job demands – without over-engineering.
From dream to demand
“We saw a gap in the market and we knew we had something to offer. So, we went for it,” VTI Managing Director Matt Clough said.
“It wasn’t easy. In fact, it took us over three years just to get the business off the ground.”
With perseverance through late nights, tough decisions, and uncertain days, VTI’s vision slowly came to life. Today, the company has outgrown its original facilities three times and delivers a minimum of six custom builds per month.
“We used to dream about the day when we’d be so in demand that we’d have to tell customers, ‘It’ll be a few months before we can even start your build.’ Now, that’s our reality,” Clough said.
While manufacturing excellence sets VTI apart, it’s the company’s ongoing commitment to customer support that defines its reputation. Ready Group is one such customer.
“When you invest in a VTI unit, you’re getting more than just a machine, you’re gaining long-term support,” Ready Group Chief Operations Officer Pascal Beylacq said.
“The parts department is stocked, responsive, and there’s always someone ready to help. And the best part? They don’t forget about you after the sale.”
