Interflow completes relining project in challenging bushland

Interflow has completed a major wastewater relining project in the bushlands of Menai, ahead of schedule, for its customer ‘Delivering 4 Customers’ (D4C). In total, 218 assets were renewed, covering 5 298.9m of pipeline ranging from DN150mm to DN300mm.

Accessing the remote, rugged terrain demanded ingenuity. The project team installed scaffolding, collapsible stairs and even constructed a platform over a creek to reach maintenance holes. For sections inaccessible to conventional vehicles, lightweight B-spools were transported via Posi-Track. While helicopter access was initially considered, careful planning and strong field execution rendered it unnecessary.

Environmental protection and compliance remained paramount throughout the project. The crew achieved 100 per cent compliance in customer and environmental inspections, minimised vegetation trimming, negotiated multiple land-ownership and stakeholder requirements, and managed wildlife hazards — all while maintaining rigorous safety and quality standards.

Despite limited mobile reception and challenging terrain, team members supported each other every step of the way. Their dedication and collaboration delivered exceptional outcomes for the customer. Congratulations to everyone involved on the successful completion of this challenging and rewarding project.
