WATCH: Drilling project strikes Logan Water pipeline

Logan Water has confirmed that a privately contracted directional drilling project recently struck one of its wastewater pipelines, causing damage that was not immediately visible.

Rather than proceeding with extensive and disruptive excavation, the utility deployed specialised camera technology to assess the issue and determine the best course of action. The investigation provided detailed insight into the affected section of pipe and enabled engineers to plan an efficient repair.

As a result, Logan Water has opted to re-line the damaged pipe using a trenchless method, avoiding a full dig-up, reducing costs and minimising disruption to the surrounding community.

Officials said the approach reflects the company’s commitment to smart planning and the use of the right tools to deliver effective infrastructure solutions.
