A spiral wound lining solution

Aussie Trenchless’ SRP-EXP Spiral Lining System has proven its abilities for the rehabilitation of deteriorated sewer and stormwater mains.

One example is the SRP-EXP Spiral Lining System.

The “close fitting” PVC spiral ribbed trenchless solution is a structural designed to rehabilitate pipelines from DN150 to DN1200 using six different-sized profiles, making it the perfect for the rehabilitation of circular sewer and stormwater mains.

How it works

The winding machine is first positioned into an access chamber or pit before it helically winds the SRP-EXP ribbed strip to produce a pipe within the existing pipeline.

Meredith said the SRP-EXP system is installed at a smaller diameter and then expanded to be a close fit against the internal surface of the existing pipe.

“During the initial wind-in process, the wind-in lock holds the spiral wound pipe tight at the initial smaller diameter,” he said.

“When the far end of the installation length is reached, the SRP-EXP Liner end is then restrained, with the lock area sequentially released, so that the new pipe expands in a controlled manner until it is pressed hard against the inside wall of the existing pipe.”

One of the key benefits of the SRP EXP Spiral Lining System is that it can be installed under flow conditions, meaning less disruptions to the surrounding community.

“With no by-pass pumping needed, it is quick and efficient using a third-generation high quality profile to ensure ease of installation, providing a value-added outcome for the network owners,” he said.

But what sets SRP-EXP from other spiral relining systems on the market?

According to Meredith, there are multiple benefits for both the client and installer.

“As spiral wound linings have high strength-to-weight ratio, the SRP-EXP System can handle a variety of pipe diameters,” he said.

“The installation process is entirely mechanical with no chemical or steam heating utilised during the process. It also has a relatively small site footprint.

“The SRP-EXP system is capable of negotiating displacement and slight bends with minimal site disruption. It also has minimal product material wastage, which can be recycled with ease.”

The system also stands the test of time, making it a durable solution for tight fitting lining projects.

“The SRP-EXP System is designed to last for at least 50 years,” Meredith said.

“This reduces maintenance costs for water authorities and local councils and provides flexibility for customers.”
