For 20 years, Directhit Trenchless has been in the business of solving boring problems, and gee haven’t we had fun during that time!
We’ve gone from the old umbilical style machines that took forever to set up, required a truck with pump and powerpack permanently attached, had stakes that had to be hammered into the ground, (weren’t they fun to pull out) and a tracking system that required prayers and some luck to achieve the designed bore path.
They bear little resemblance to the machines of today, which are beautiful sleek looking beasts that come self-contained, highly automated and have more options and functions than we ever imagined possible in the early days of the trenchless industry.
Directhit Trenchless would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank all the people and companies that have either helped or hindered us over the last 20 years, because without your help and input (be it good or bad) we would not have evolved into the company we are today.
When we first started we knew just enough to just get by, now we know way too much to just get by.
Directhit Trenchless has become a well-rounded specialised company with an assortment of equipment at our disposal, which we utilise on our own projects as well as hiring or leasing to other companies for their projects.
We operate in a very competitive market, which compels us to continually grow and improve in order to maintain our competitive edge.
Play well with others
We pride ourselves on our ability to interact and play well with others.
Over the years we have been lucky enough to be able to use our experience to assist and serve other directional drilling companies that have asked for our assistance on their projects, and likewise received assistance from them when requested.
We have collaborated with many different companies on an interesting range of projects, all with successful outcomes. Our mission is to serve our clients, and to serve them well.
Projects
We recently had the pleasure of being involved in the Narrows Project with McDow MCJV where four bores approximately 1.5 km in length were installed.
One of these bores holds the Australian record for the longest and biggest diameter pipe installed, (1,528 m x 1,060 mm x 25 mm steel gas pipe).
We also teamed up with UEA on several interesting projects, one being the 1,770 Ocean Desalination intake pipe, and over the years have paired up with many great drilling companies, and will continue to do so.
As for our main clients, the list is extensive and continues to grow.
Equipment
Directhit Trenchless owns 16 directional drills varying in sizes from 10,000 lbs of push pull to 1.1 million thousand pounds of push pull, we also have five auger boring machines that allow us to install casing from 300-1,600 mm in diameter, as well a pipe rammer that can handle pipe up to 1,500 mm diameter.
We also carry all the necessary auxiliary equipment such as mud recycling systems, rock hammers, mud pumps, compressors, steering systems, rock tooling, drill pipe, locators, vacuum trucks, and accompanying equipment.
Though 20 years sounds like a long time, especially when it started off as a two-year plan, believe me it is not – especially if you’re having fun, and we’ve had a lot of fun.
So, thanks to everybody for the last 20 years, and here’s looking forward to the next 20.
