2012 Business plan

2013 Sydney International No-Dig

ASTT Chairman Trevor Gosatti, Trenchless Australasia Editor Kate Pemberton and I recently attended the Trenchless Asia component of Singapore International Water Week in July. Whilst there, we took the opportunity to meet with John Hemphill, the International Secretary for the ISTT, and together we signed the event contract for the 31st International No-Dig 2013, Sydney. It has taken a great deal of work to reach a mutually agreeable document that satisfies both the ISTT and the ASTT.

We also took the time whilst in Singapore to meet with the Executive Group of the Singaporean Society for Trenchless Technology. Our discussions were based around possible options for attracting their members to actively participate in the conference next year.

Similar discussions are now scheduled with both the Chinese Society and German Society at the next ISTT No-Dig that will be held this November in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Other Society meetings will be undertaken whilst we are in Brazil with the aim of attracting speakers, delegates and exhibitors to the 2013 event.

Great Southern Press, the ISTT and the ASTT have now commenced a comprehensive campaign to promote International No-Dig 2013. We want this event to be the best ISTT and ASTT event ever, and all indications to date say that we are heading in the right direction.

A Call for Papers has recently been advertised internationally and I encourage as many ASTT members as possible to submit an abstract.

Great Southern Press has now established the International No-Dig 2013 Conference website where all the relevant information will be located. Head to www.nodigdownunder.com

Trenchless Live 2012

All members and readers of this magazine are reminded to keep 23-24 October 2012 free so that you can come along and attend the Trenchless Live event that will be held at the Melbourne Showgrounds.

I am thrilled to be able to advise that all the major sponsorship items have been sold. The sponsors for Trenchless Live are Vermeer (Platinum), Insituform Pacific and Kembla Watertech (Gold), and HOBAS, Interflow and UEA (Silver).

The exhibition is selling extremely well with only a few booths remaining to be sold.

Supporting the live demonstrations and exhibition will be a series of free keynote breakfast addresses. We are delighted to have Neil Rickard, Yarra Valley’s Manager Infrastructure Planning, deliver the first keynote address where he will discuss his organisation’s active asset management program. We also have NBN Co Construction Stakeholder General Manager Darren Driscoll talking on the challenges involved with installing the network, progress of the works so far and contractor involvement in the network – with an emphasis on Trenchless Technology utilisation.

We will also be holding a Super Panel discussion, led by MWH Technical Specialist Dave Cook, Sastti JV Founder Lance Horlyck, ASTT Vice Chairman Andy Krumins and keynote speaker Neil Rickard; as well as three Toolbox Sessions, during which case studies on HDD, Tunnelling and Rehabilitation will be presented.

Naturally, there will be continuing live demonstrations featuring a range of trenchless techniques from our trenchless suppliers and contractors over the two days.

This is definitely a trenchless event not to miss. For more information, please visit www.trenchlesslive.com
