Membership Drive
On 1 July of this year, the ASTT undertook a special membership drive offerring prospective members a 50 per cent reduction on their fees for the remaining six months of this year.
At the time of providing this report in early July 2014, indications for membership increases are extremely positive.
WaterNZ
Water New Zealand’s Conference is drawing nearer and promises to be another great success.
This event will be held over 17-19 September 2014 at Claudelands in Hamilton. Please refer to the Water New Zealand feature on page 24 of this issue.
International No-Dig Madrid 2014
The ISTT’s 32nd annual International No-Dig Conference and Exhibition will be hosted by the Iberian Society for Trenchless Technology (IbSTT) and is to be held 13-15 October 2014 at the IFEMA Convention Centre in Madrid, Spain.
At the time of writing this update, I am delighted to report that at this congress there will be four Australian presentations.
These are:
- Broadband electro-magnetics for assessment of engineering infrastructure. By Martin Roubal, Rock Solid Group Pty Ltd, Australia
- Tunnelling for the Gas Pipeline Industry. By YU Teng Fong, GHD Pty Ltd, Australia
- Understanding the role of substrate properties for enhanced adhesion of epoxy liners on concrete. By Rupika Sendanayaka Achchige, The University of Sydney, Australia
- Accelerated testing of acid permeation through industrial epoxy and novolac coatings for wastewater structures. By Mohammad Karim Nazemi, The University of Sydney, Australia
Hard Metals Australia will also be exhibiting.
All ASTT members are encouraged to support this event.
ISTT Photo Book
I put forward a motion at the last AGM to enable the ASTT to purchase copies of the ISTT Photo Book and to send a copy only to our Corporate Members as appreciation for their commitment to the ASTT.
This gesture is also considered a membership benefit.
I am pleased to advise that this motion was accepted and all Corporate Members as of 30 June 2014 should have received their complimentary copy.
I hope you enjoy it as much as we have.
The ISTT Photo Book is titled The Wonders of Trenchless Technologies, A Pictorial and it presents trenchless projects at work.
