Prime Creative Media has partnered with Yarra Valley Water, Greater Western Water and Barwon Water for No-Dig Down Under in 2025. The water companies’ representatives will present as part of the conference program to discuss some of their latest projects.
Organised in partnership with the Australasian Society for Trenchless Technology (ASTT), No-Dig Down Under has grown over the years to become the second-largest no-dig technology event in the world and is a ‘must-attend’ for all industry professionals.
This year’s event will return to the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre and take place from 17 to 18 September.
No-Dig Down Under will feature an exciting technical program, inviting speakers from around Australia and the globe to present papers covering case studies, new and emerging technologies, challenging projects and environments, industry skills and training, risk management and more.
An extensive social program will also take place, including the much anticipated ASTT Gala Dinner and Awards Evening, providing attendees with networking opportunities in a variety of settings with industry professionals.
With so much in the works, it’s no wonder that some of Victoria’s leading water corporations, Yarra Valley Water (YVW), Barwon Water, and Greater Western Water (GWW), are rallying behind No-Dig Down Under 2025.
United by a commitment to sustainable infrastructure solutions, the event offers the perfect platform for these entities to engage with cutting-edge technologies, exchange insights and explore best practices in environmentally conscious trenchless methods.
YVW utilises trenchless technology on a range of its new infrastructure and upgrade projects. This includes microtunelling under the Hume Highway for the Mount Fraser water pipelines which will service Melbourne’s growing northern suburbs; renewing over 100-year-old water mains in heavily trafficked areas through sliplining, including sections of the M4 water main renewal project; and tunnelling 40m deep main sewers to provide additional capacity and minimise sewer spills to the environment.
“Trenchless technology is essential as we work to avoid and minimise impacts from our water and sewer infrastructure construction,” YVW Divisional Manager, Asset Delivery Sally Crook told Trenchless Australasia.
“This technology helps us achieve better customer outcomes, safeguard cultural heritage and protect trees and vegetation.”
For YVW, No-Dig also represents an exciting opportunity for learning.
“No-Dig Down Under provides a unique opportunity for utilities, manufacturers, suppliers, designers and constructors to come together and share their experiences,” YVW Divisional Manager, Asset Field Services Mark Edwardson said.
“Yarra Valley Water’s proud to support this event to generate new possibilities to achieve excellent community and environmental outcomes.”
Barwon Water also has its finger on the pulse when it comes to trenchless methods like sewer relining and horizontal directional drilling (HDD). The water corporation has rolled out these solutions in key projects.
These solutions have helped Barwon to minimise the destruction of habitat and reduce carbon emissions, creating a healthier environment.
Similarly, GWW is no stranger to utilising trenchless technology in its infrastructure projects, particularly in environmentally sensitive locations. The water corporation uses trenchless methods to reduce noise, dust and impacts on traffic.
The water corporation’s recent projects have benefitted from trenchless solutions that minimise disruption to the public.
GWW’s ongoing commitment to technological advancements is key to its 2030 strategy, which focuses on delivering long-term value for customers and supporting communities to thrive. The corporation’s attendance at No-Dig Down Under is evidence of this ethos at work.
