Mr Telfer will discuss the need for more structured training and the development of standardised trenchless competencies that are recognised as part of the wider, traditional, industry training. He will review some of the current methods of training, the issues associated with the current systems, and will provide a case study from New Zealand where trenchless qualifications are currently being integrated into the national utilities infrastructure qualification pathway.
About the speaker
Mr Telfer is a trenchless consultant, international trainer and a Director of ProjectMax, a specialist engineering practice based in Auckland, New Zealand, who is a leader in trenchless knowledge. Mr Telfer is a Chartered Professional Engineer with over 18 years’ experience within the water and wastewater industry. He has a diverse background across the industry, including work with a local authority, a publicly-owned water and wastewater company, civil contractor and consulting firms.
Over this time, Mr Telfer has developed specialist knowledge of trenchless construction and rehabilitation of water, wastewater and stormwater pipelines, with both design and practical, hands-on experience. Mr Telfer currently provides trenchless advice, training, assessment and design services to clients throughout Australasia. In 2012, Mr Telfer facilitated, on behalf of the Australasian Society for Trenchless Technology, the Trenchless Masterclass training seminars across Australia and New Zealand.
