Major Gravity Sewers in Key Rail and Road Zones

Barwon Water will invite tenders for a Major Sewer Works package in the Geelong region in early July. The works involve rectification of defective liners within critical ovoid sewer assets located in Bellerine Street in the Geelong CBD and rehabilitation of about 1km of major gravity sewer pipelines located beneath or adjacent to key rail corridors and major road networks. These projects will address ageing and deteriorating infrastructure that is critical to maintaining reliable sewer services, with delivery to occur in constrained, high-risk environments using trenchless rehabilitation methods .

Construction of approximately 1,150 metres of DN900 Branch Sewer and 89 metres of DN225 as part of Monarch Estate – for Greater Western Water, within Melton City Council. Contractors must be accredited with Greater Western Water for the supply of works and services in Category SC2 (>DN 280 or greater than 5m deep).
If not accredited to Category SC2 or under probation in Category SC2, an accreditation dispensation will not be considered for this project.
The tenderer must hold the relevant accreditation category(ies) and provide the relevant Key Personnel. The tenderer is not able to subcontract the accreditation or supervision by the Key Personnel. Subcontractors can be still used for labour and plant and/or specialist services, e.g. boring, directional drilling, testing, live tappings, etc.

Invercauld Road Water Main Replacement – Stage 2

Description: The existing watermain infrastructure on Invercauld Road, Goonellabah is increasingly unfit for purpose due to aging infrastructure, regular failures and superseded design characteristics.
The activity will upgrade watermain infrastructure through installation of new upgraded pipes, new hydrants, stop valves and services, as part of LCC Watermains Renewal Program. This will ensure ongoing reticulated water supply and asset protection services for residents.
Scope:
The activity will remediate the watermain including the installation of new pipes, stop valves, hydrants and services. The existing watermain will be abandoned underground. Excavated material will be tested and categorised for reuse or disposal at an approved location (Excavated Natural Material Testing (ENM) and Waste Classification).
The anticipated works associated with the activity include:
• Install sediment and erosion controls;
• Excavate and trench road;
• Install new watermain pipe via horizontal boring;
• Install new services, hydrants and stop valves;
• Abandon existing section of watermain pipeline
• Flush pipes and test water quality;
• Patch asphalt;
• Replace damaged turf;
• Remove erosion and sediment controls;
• Reinstate improved reticulated water supply;
• Reinstate safe traffic access; and
• Align with the aims and objectives outlined in SEPPTI (2021) and other legislation and guidelines listed in this REF.
