Through its sewerage pump station renewal program, Power and Water is rehabilitating the Tiwi Sewerage Pump Station in the Northern Territory.
The pump station is the first of the facilities identified for renewal to maintain delivery of safe and reliable water and sewerage services to customers.
This includes the Darwin Hospital Precinct, Tiwi and parts of Brinkin.
The new Tiwi Sewerage Pump Station will prolong the life of the asset by 50 years, reduce the risk of failure and overflows and minimise any safety and environmental incidents.
Using laser scan technology for infrastructure assessment, and the application of polyvinyl chloride pressure laminate liner materials, the upgrades streamline PowerWater’s ongoing maintenance processes.
Power and Water chief executive officer Djuna Pollard said the asset replacement strategies were innovative.
“I am really impressed with the safety and design features of the new Tiwi Sewerage Pump Station,” Pollard said.
“Readings can be taken remotely from Ludmilla and air-conditioning has been installed in the switch room, providing a better working environment for our people.
“Congratulations to our Water Services Infrastructure Delivery Project Manager, Phillip Lo Castro, and the project team for their dedication and efficient project management to deliver the works on time, within budget and without any incidents.”
