SA Water is well underway on work to install new sewer mains for thousands of future homes in Onkaparinga Heights.
The 1.3 kilometres of new underground sewer main range in size from 225 to 300 millimetres in diameter, and will be installed across three sections from our existing sewer network – connecting into Onkaparinga Heights underneath Main South Road.
Microtunnelling will be used to install the pipes to ensure traffic keeps flowing above the road.
This involves a tunnel being created between either side of the road, before the pipes are pushed through the tunnel using a jacking system.
SA Water will deliver a permanent wastewater solution for up to 1,600 allotments, more than tripling the initial servicing capacity.
Residents are expected to move in during next year.
